paypal payment not showing how do l refund

hi l need help with my paypal account, l was paid through paypal for an item l sold but l have not verified paypal and have on my about me page l do not accept payment by paypal,my buyer said if l refund him he will send me cheque but in my paypal history there is no sign off any payments its just blank is there any way the buyer can request his payment back, l have also looked at find payments nothing there please help this is driving me crazy thanks
