WHAT THE BOOKS AND WOOL COMPANYS DON'T WANT TO TELL YOU

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,

My name is Helena andI am a prolific and passionate knitter,I adore the way that yarn feels running through my fingers and the satisfaction on producing a new piece of one off clothing either for myself or the familly....

BUT...here is a little tip that the wool companies and books don't want you to know,or they failed to tell the world!!!!

so,here goes....

a 4 ply yarn has 4 threads per twist,

double knit has 8 threads per twist

ARAN wool has 12 threads per twist,

CHUNKY wool has 16 threads per twist

SUPER CHUNKY has 20 threads per twist....

here's a strange idea.....but it works!!!!!

for a different twist on a garment why not make up the ARAN wool by mixing 4 ply yarn and double knit yarn and knitting both balls and threadstogether????This would also work with crochet as well!!!!

all you need to know is how many threads add up to making the actual yarn that the pattern says you need,but you could personalise your garments by picking up different yarns and mixing them together,the most fantastic thingI have ever done is mixed two felting double knit yarns together and gone for it in the washing machine and have had the most phenominal results.....

but be prepared for a few oh-oh's mohair and mohair don't mix they just mat together and if you have to undo a piece of work they WILL NOT separate!!!!

but if you want to be individual,or just try it,GO FOR IT!!!!!!
