Beware of sellers offering vouchers that admit the bearer free admission, half-price admission, 2-for-1 admission, etc, to UK visitor attractions. For example, one seller has listed these vouchers in February 2009, all on a Buy It Now option of between 0.99 and 1.35: 3 Free Child Entry Vouchers Cadbury World Save 30.30 Two Free Child Entry Vouchers Fleet Air Arm Museum 3 for 2 Wristband Voucher Blackpool Pleasure Beach Two 2 for 1 Entry Vouchers for Black Country Museum Two 2 For 1 Entry Vouchers SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham Two 2 for 1 Entry Vouchers Manchester United Museum Two Free Child Entry Vouchers Wookey Hole Caves 2 Free Child Entry Vouchers for Dudley Zoo Save 13.90 Two Free Child Passport Entry Vouchers Ironbridge Gorge 2 for 1 Entry Voucher Camelot Theme Park Save 19.00But, what the seller does not tell you is this:All of these vouchers are promotions run by the attraction operator in conjunction with the Heart of England Tourist Board, and they are TOTALLY FREE for anyone to download from their website:www(dot)visittheheart(dot)co(dot)uk/Sellers listing these and other similar free download vouchers on eBay may be in breach of eBay's Prohibited Items policy. All Tourist Boards probably have similar promotions, so if you find a seller listing tourist attraction vouchers for sale on eBay, here's what you could do:While the listing is live1. Ask the seller if the vouchers are website downloads2. Ask the seller to identify the source of the vouchers3. Check the seller's feedback for relevant comments left by buyers4. Check the seller's other items -- if they have lots of vouchers, be suspicious5. Go to the relevant Tourist Board website and search their promotional offers -- you might find this is the source of the vouchersIf you buy a voucher only to find it's a free download
1. Complain to the seller -- ask for a full no-quibble refund (it worked for me)
2. Report the matter to eBay
3. Leave feedback that warns others about buying something they can get for nothing (eg: FREE DIY vouchers from Tourist Board website - do not buy)
